Welcome!

Cortez is located on Florida’s Suncoast, very near Sarasota and just a short walk over the draw bridge to Anna Maria Island's  world class beaches.  Settled in the 1880’s by fisherman from North Carolina, it still has a vibrant commercial fishing economy, with great local fish markets and waterside restaurants.  Filled with quaint metal-roofed cottages, palm lined streets and authentic nautical décor, the village now has a distinct Margaritaville meets hardworking-fisherman air.

There are lots of local restaurants within walking distance, including Star Fish Market, Cortez Kitchen, and Cortez Cafe.

Breathtaking views of Sarasota Bay are 2 blocks down the quiet streets, and unique little shops are within walking distance.

Outdoor dining on fish caught daily and delivered to the local markets.

If you are looking for a radical departure from the commercialized hustle and bustle of the average Florida seaside vacation town, Cortez is your spot.  Once you turn off busy Cortez Rd. onto the quite, palm-lined streets of our village, everything slows down to “Cortez Time.”  Pop a top, rest for a bit in our hammock, or wander down a couple of blocks to the community fishing pier and waste away an afternoon beside the clear aquamarine water, and the cares of everyday life fade to a distance.

The beautiful world class beaches of Anna Maria Island are a very quick jaunt across the nearby draw bridge, and a world of deep sea fishing, scuba diving, and a myriad of other waters sports are within walking distance.  Local shops showcase unique and offbeat antiques, and offerings from local artists.
